Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is a historical retrospective of work Deborah Butterfields celebrated. About Deborah Butterfield
Tags: Butterfield was born in San Diego, California, 1949 her passion for horses began as a child. Torn between veterinary medicine and the arts during his tenure at the University of California, San Diego, she transferred to the University of California, Davis in 1970, where she earned her BFA and MFA in ceramics. She later taught at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and then at Montana State University, Bozeman. She now spends her time between studios in Bozeman and Hawaii. Butterfield was awarded a scholarship NEA Individual Artist Fellowship and the John Simon Guggenheim, honors our other major.
Tags Butterfield has exhibited across the United States and Europe. Her work has been commissioned by many major institutions, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art and Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden. Cabin Creek and Dry Fork Little Horse (1978) at Meijer Gardens permanent collection.
