Don’t Fall Prey to the HD Low HD DVD Prices
If you shop a lot for movies, than you need to beware of people selling HD DVD’s at super low prices. Many people don’t realize the significance of this and think that an HD DVD can be played in their regular DVD player or in their Blu-Ray Disc Player. This just is not the case.
HD DVD’s are no longer being produced and for good reason. HD DVD players were in existence for a number of years and were the competitor to Blu-Ray. The two companies were competing for a while, each trying their own brand of improved quality viewing, but they are in no way the same. Blu-Ray won the battle in 2008 and that shut down the HD DVD market for ever.
If you have an HD DVD player than you are in fact out of luck or in luck depending on how you look at it. Right now just about every movie that was ever made on HD DVD is being sold brand new for a song. On the other hand, no more will be produced, so if you have one of these players you will find that your movie selection will be limited, but the movies that you are able to get will be dirt cheap.
The problem is that many unknowing consumers are finding these HD DVD’s brand new and dirt cheap on sites like Ebay and they are buying them up; some believing that these discs will work on their regular DVD players and others thinking that HD DVD is just another term for Blu-Ray. Neither of these is correct.
An HD DVD can only be played on an HD DVD player. And these are no longer being produced. Do not be fooled by those selling these items, you can’t use them unless you have an HD DVD player, and if you don’t, you probably won’t want to purchase one, since no further movies will be coming out in this antiquated format. HD DVD is not compatible with Blu-Ray or with your DVD player, it can only be played on a device with the same name.
