India Art Festival: Art Market Dynamics

Interactive session on Art Market Art Festival held in India Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai-19 April 2011. Industry experts were invited to talk about art market and its current condition. In the Interactive session in Mumbai, Dr. Saryu Doshi, spoke about the need of quality Art Fair in Mumbai, where artists and art galleries can occur in works of art, and art collectors, connoisseurs to interact with them. Rajendra, secretary of the Indian Art Festival, Art Festival of India, presented a dynamic module, and how this is Art Festival different than other commercial Art Fair. He said: “India Art Festival is the beginning of Art galleries and individual artists. In Art Festival, Art Galleries would exhibit works of art of their associates artists. However, many talented artists in India who are not married in the gallery system, there are very few galleries to compare the artists of the population in the country. Art galleries do best to promote the arts and artists, but because there are many artists who are not represented by any art gallery, art festival in India have created a special part of the artists to provide a democratic forum for such artists. Siddharth Tagore spoke about the practical side of the art market, and examine current the latest on the market. He added that “an event, such as India Art Festival would bring buoyancy in the field of art.” Johyn ML, Curator, Art Festival in India highlighted the importance of gallery system. He also explained the pitfalls of confusing the field of art and how the event will help the IAF to organize it to some extent.
