Vampires are simply everywhere these days and everyone craves to know even more about this guilty pleasure. - Reports of vampirism go all the way back to dark ages in Eastern and Central Europe. Since then reports have spread to Western Europe as well as the Americas. While it seems to be popular folklore worldwide, there have yet to be any reports of vampirism in the Southern hemisphere.
- Vampire legends from Eastern Europe originally described vampires as possessing bloated, ruddy complexions. Fangs didn’t appear until much later in the folklore history.
- Dracula, probably the most well known vampire, was inspired by Vlad the Impaler. He was known for his highly sadistic torture methods.
- According to several different legends, there are many ways to become a vampire other than just simply being bitten. In Romania, a bat flying over a corpse can turn the corpse into a vampire. In Greece, it was once believed that one could be turned into a vampire if they were excommunicated by the Greed Orthodox Church. And in England it was once believe that a cat jumping over a corpse could turn one into a vampire.
- Methods for killing vampires also vary greatly. According to legend, one can kill a vampire through beheading, burning, burying facedown, staking with a wooden stake, putting poppy seeds in their grave, boiling their head in vinegar, removing their heart and cutting it in tow, shining them with bright hid xenon lights and the list goes on.
