Brooks celebrates success of new program in Alzheimer ground

Memphis Brooks Museum of Art is pleased to report successful results in achieving those afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease therapy through art museums of the piece of mind.
Tags Piece of mind is modeled after the highly acclaimed meet me at MoMA Developed by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Based on this idea, Brooks has also added the relevant art to make the session with a trained art therapist, and currently is the only art museum in the country to offer these two components together.

Tags: Alzheimer’s Association, as 5.3 million people living in the United States with Alzheimer’s, a disease characterized by memory loss for which there is no known cure. While art therapy programs can not stop the disease activity, therapeutic tools are worth to engage the minds of those affected by dementia, improving the quality of life for Alzheimer’s disease and increase confidence. As the State Alzheimer’s Association, the value of art therapy lies in the creative process of making art and expressing feelings and emotions trapped inside. Understanding that followed the performance brings renewed joy and self-esteem in the patient.

During the interactive tours Brooks Tags gallery, specially trained museum docent topics to highlight, artists and special exhibitions, encouraging looks close, personal relationships and group discussions. Tours follow refer hands on art projects in the studio with a trained art therapist. Piece of Mind During the program is implemented without a public clock, so-providing a safe, comfortable for those living with Alzheimer’s expressive outlet and forum for dialogue.

To be able to come up with someone with dementia in a therapeutic art program, and not feel judged or uncomfortable is a great stress reliever for caregivers and a great mental stimulant for people with Alzheimer’s disease.
