Party Planning Tips to Stay Sane

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Depending on how you prepare, party planning could be an extremely stressful time or a calm build-up to an amazingly good time.  No doubt you want to stay sane, so to speak, while planning how to throw a fantastic party no matter the event.  Here are just a few party planning tips.

Perhaps the easiest step to remember if you’re planning a party is to plan ahead.  Planning ahead for an event you’re having in your home will help you be clear about what you need to do to have a successful event that will be fun and memorable.  For instance, if you want to have a theme party plan your decorations weeks in advance to know what you may lack or what you want to change.  For a holiday like Christmas or Halloween, remember that many others are probably planning a holiday party as well so do your planning and shop early for what you need.

As a host or hostess, you know that the most important step is to consider your guests.  This includes a wide range of things you must think of to make sure the event is a success.  If you’re getting a business to cater, for example, remember to consider any dietary restrictions your guests may have.  If your attendees include a guest or guests of honor for a birthday or anniversary, remember to consider their likes and dislikes.  The theme should reflect them even if the event is in your home.  Because the time around a holiday can be stressful, think of how to keep your guests calm and happy.

Finally, it’s important to expect surprises.  It may be hard to accept but, no matter how much you plan there will likely still be a surprise or two.  Whether it’s a changing guest list at an anniversary party, holiday drama at a Christmas party or a shortage of candy at a Halloween event, some things won’t happen like you expected.  The key is not to panic and not to let the surprise ruin your event.  Remember that planning ahead can eliminate the stress of any unforeseen circumstances because it gives you adequate time to change ideas and plans.  If the very idea of surprises stresses you out, consider that you can hire a service or business to do some or all of the work for you.

There’s no single how-to guide for party planning, but some tips are universal.  Just remember to plan ahead, consider your guests and expect surprises.  Knowing what to expect and how to get through the process means you can host a fabulous party for any holiday or event.

Rainy Day Pursuits

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Rainy days are no fun when you want to be out in the sun. Rain pretty much puts a damper on any activity you want to do outdoors. This can be frustrating, especially when it’s raining cats and dogs on your only day from work in a week. Despair not; there are still many ways to enjoy yourself in the great indoors on a dreary, cloudy, rainy day.

Drink the Day Away

Being forced to stay in all day is a perfect excuse to whip out that bottle of Brandy you’ve been saving and chill on a bar stool all day long. It’ll be a lot more interesting if you invite some friends to join you, but who am I to judge?

Play Pinochle

Well it doesn’t have to actually be Pinochle if that isn’t your forte, but whip out a deck of cards and play a game you haven’t in years. Even a simple game of Old Maid or Go Fish will suffice to keep you occupied for at least 20 minutes.

Go Outside

If you can’t beat them, join them I say. Grab your raincoat, some rain boots and an umbrella, and rendezvous with your honey. It’s the perfect excuse to recreate the romance of the final scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Facebook

Spend the day combing through the accounts of people you attended to high school with then compare their successes and failure to your own to see whose life is better. This may or may not be incredibly depressing so tread with caution.
